Stitch Made His Great Escape in 2020 and Shows Up at Disney Springs 4 Years Later. Sitch’s Great Escape closed for good in 2020, and we have not heard anything from Disney about a return of the attraction, nor have we heard about a replacement. Randomly, we got to see an old set piece from Stitch’s Great Escape appear in the Marketplace Coop in Disney Springs.
Okay, it may actually not be random, considering Disney has released a new set of merchandise called the Disney Eat Snacks Collection and also released information on a new Stitch Attacks Snacks collection:
“Well, ensure you safeguard your food, or your pantry might just get raided by everyone’s favorite spacey troublemaker, Stitch. Experiment 626 is at it again, making mischief and indulging his out-of-this-world appetite with the Stitch Attacks Snacks continuity series. Every month in 2024, a themed plush and pin set of Stitch with a different tasty treat will be released.”

The Stitch in Marketplace Coop is not the main animatronic that uses the dark atmosphere, strobe effects, and fog to scare kids to death. (and yes, it did scare kids, go back and watch some old videos on YouTube!. Kids crying all over the place in fear) It may not have been as terrifying as ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, but still.
This Stitch actually used to hang from the ceiling in Mickey’s Star Traders, the gift shop as you left the attraction. You can see in the image above that we found on deviantArt Ghostly-Host.
Stitch’s Great Escape was an interactive “theater-in-the-round” attraction, that invited guests to embark on an adventure alongside the playful and mischievous blue alien. Located in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.
Stitch a troublesome experiment 626, had once again escaped his intergalactic confinement and was causing chaos aboard a Galactic Federation starship. Guests were drawn into the mischief, boarded the ship, and encountered Stitch and his clumsy sidekick Gantu throughout the experience.
Speaking of Stitch’s Great Escape, Does anyone remember the gaseous Chili Dog Burp? Ugh, that still haunts my nightmares. I digress…
For those wondering about the Orange Bird statue that was installed during Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, he is now in the back of the Marketplace Coop selling snacks collection, standing next to a giant Dole Whip.

A mysterious high-security Level 3 prisoner has been captured and is due for arrival! Because Level 3 aliens can be quite dangerous, make your way to the High-Security chamber to assist with the incoming teleportation.
High-Security Prisoner Transport Chamber
Inside, take a seat around a floor-to-ceiling tube. As the teleportation begins, the prisoner is revealed to be none other than free-spirited Stitch, who naturally manages to break out of the transport chamber and wreak havoc throughout the audience in the dark!
Pandemonium for Everyone
This attraction is a multi-sensory experience featuring audio, video, olfactory and Audio-Animatronics special effects.
While the experience is appropriate for all ages, the show takes place in a darkened theater and there are several surprises and loud noises throughout the performance.
Inspired by the Hit Movie
Stitch’s Great Escape! transports you into the world of the Galactic Federation. Starring characters from the Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch. The attraction is actually a prequel that follows an early adventure of Experiment 626 before his close encounter with Lilo in Hawaii.
