Gina Carano With Elon Musk’s Money sues Disney and Lucasfilm over ‘Mandalorian’ Firing. Fair Warning: I absolutely do not care what your political views are. This is just the news. Just take it for what it is.

“A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated,” the lawsuit says. “And so it was with Carano.”  – and so it begins.

Former professional MMA fighter and actor Gina Carano has taken legal action against The Walt Disney Co. and Lucasfilm, asserting that her termination from the series “The Mandalorian” in 2021 was unjust. In her lawsuit, filed in federal court in California, Carano alleges that she was dismissed from her role as rebel warrior Cara Dune due to expressing right-wing viewpoints on social media.

She seeks either reinstatement or compensation of at least $75,000 from Lucasfilm. Carano contends in the lawsuit that her firing resulted in emotional distress and significant financial losses. Elon Musk’s support in covering the legal expenses was confirmed by Carano in a social media post.

In her statement, Carano refuted the notion that her previous social media activity was controversial and accused her former employers of engaging in a “bullying smear campaign” aimed at silencing her dissenting opinions.

Carano, initially recognized for her achievements in mixed martial arts, had been gaining prominence in television and film before encountering controversy. In February 2021, she shared a post on Instagram drawing parallels between contemporary political divisions and the Holocaust. Subsequently, she made a post seemingly ridiculing individuals wearing masks during the pandemic. These Instagram posts were part of the app’s “story” feature, which automatically vanishes after 24 hours.

Earlier instances of scrutiny surrounding Carano’s social media presence include insinuations of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election and a post where she appeared to mock transgender individuals by using “beep/bop/boop” in her Twitter profile in response to requests for pronoun disclosure.

Gene Schaerr, Carano’s legal representative, asserted that Disney attempted to coerce Carano into conforming to their cultural and political ideologies, and upon her resistance, terminated her employment.

Representatives for Musk, Disney, and Lucasfilm did not offer immediate comments on the matter, while Carano and her manager remained silent in response to requests for comment.
