Hollywood Studios Updates 2/8/2024: Lightsaber Building, R2-D2 Merch, Construction and More. The weather was warming up nicely by the time we got to Disney’s Hollywood Studios around 10:00 AM yesterday. That made for a great day to wander around the Park and see all the new and different. New merchandise, including new Minnie Light up, R2-D2, furthermore on the merch front, Marvel seems to be missing from the whole park.
Crowds were not too bad for a Thursday at Hollywood Studios, by no means were they light, but with Cheerleader Championships in town at ESPN Wide World of Sports, we expected a lot worse.
Tower of Terror was at 60 minutes, Alien Swirling Saucers was at 50 minutes, and Slinky Dog Dash was at 100 minutes.

We got to see our friends Chip & Dale hanging out under Voyage of the Little Mermaid, just chilling out like chipmunks do.
Not much going on at Galaxy’s Edge, except being stopped by the First Order and being questioned! They were looking for a person with blue hair who was considered a Rebel Spy. We did not give away Vi Moradi’s location, and we took the heat for having blue hair.
They did notice we had been on the Halcyon in the past and told us to get back to our vacation. (joking aside, what a magical moment for us)
Over at Tatooine Traders next to Star Wars Star Tours, we found out that the lightsaber self-serve build-your-own is back. The whole area is not behind ropes anymore and you can walk up and start building. For the last few years, you could only do the build-your-own with cast member assistance.

R2-D2 Loungefly Ear Headband for Adults – Star Wars and Lightup Loungefly bag are available. Have been for a little while, but we finally saw them ourselves.
The new Minnie Mouse collection came out about a month ago now, and we are still seeing new stuff come out all the time. When the new Disney Parks collection came out, Disney released a light-up Mickey Balloon head, now they have released a Minnie Mouse version.
Keystone Clothier has removed all the Marvel merchandise. We wrote about it yesterday, it appears Marvel has been removed from the whole Park. We do not remember seeing anything Marvel-related, but there may be small odds and ends available.
Finally, at Mickey’s of Hollywood, the back registers are behind walls now as work and construction take place. If you need to check out, try using mobile checkout, it will make things so much faster.
