Permits Filed at NBA Experience in Disney Springs for Demolition/Construction. Could we be seeing a new “experience’ coming to Disney Springs? Or are we just going to get another space filler like we had last year?
The failed NBA Experience closed when the whole of Walt Disney World Resorts did back in 2020 when the world was hit by the Pandemic. While it took almost 4 years for some restaurants to reopen, they at least are reopening or did reopen. Unlike the NBA Experience at Disney Springs.
Last year, the space was filled with “Virtual Reality Experience featuring ILMxLAB’s Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge” The hands-on preview will showcase a short version of ILMxLAB’s virtual reality experience Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, which expands the world of Batuu like never before! Once inside the Quest 2 headset, you’ll be immersed in sweeping 360 views of the Star Wars galaxy. The adventure takes place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, which you may be familiar with from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the immersive epic lands at Disneyland Resort in California, and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

As of right now, there is no word from Walt Disney World or Disney Springs about what may be coming in to fill the space, but we have our guesses and ideas. But, another Immersive type experience could. I doubt it will be another restaurant. The NBA Experience was located in between the M&M Store and City Works.
NBA Experience was a one-of-a-kind environment packed with 13 interactive elements and hands-on activities across 44,000 square feet and two floors. NBA Experience will give guests the chance to feel like a basketball superstar, starting with getting drafted into their favorite team.
