Magic Kingdom Park Day in Review 2/22/2024 – Low Wait Times Early, New Dooney Ears, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Update. Yesterday was almost a perfect day here at Disney World. Between Presidents Day and Princess Half Marathon Weekend, this Wednesday was beautiful. Temps got into the mid-70s, the crowds felt lower in the morning, and we got to see a lot of new things going on.
Presidents Day 2024 and the few days following can be some of the larger crowds of the year. Now add in runDisney Princess Half marathon 2024 the following weekend and you have 2 major events at Disney World in back-to-back weekends. But we had luck yesterday at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Above is Peter Pan’s Flight at 9:45 AM and the wait time was only 30 minutes. With Early park hours and the roper droppers at 9:00 AM, this ride normally is already an hour.
Most other attractions were light, Big Thunder was at 20 minutes, Haunted Mansion was around 30, and the smaller attractions were sitting at 5 minutes.
That is except for Voyage of the Little Mermaid which was experiencing technical difficulties almost 3 hours after opening. The ride did end up opening, just delayed.
That was okay with us, and while we waited to go Under the Sea with Ariel, we stopped by Gaston’s Tavern. Warm Cinnamon Roll was on the menu for us! FYI, ask for extra topping!
The manliest of manly places, Gaston’s Tavern serves up satisfying snacks, including warm cinnamon rolls. Plus, enjoy refreshing beverages like LeFou’s Brew—the restaurant’s signature non-alcoholic drink.
Columbia Harbor House is still behind scaffolding and tarps while facade construction continues. The quick service is still open while work goes on.
Reel in delicious seafood, New England-inspired favorites, and more as you dine in a cozy, seafaring setting.
Over at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, I still cannot get lucky and see the water-filled landing area at the bottom of the Southern Dome Salt Company! Everyone else seems to have images of water, and the rides boats…not me!
But, what I could finally get a good image of is the newly created and installed weather vane. It sits on top of the wheelhouse. You can see a close-up in the image above. Furthermore, more scaffolding has come down and the area looks amazing. Summer 2024 cannot get here fast enough.

At Uptown Jewelers on Main Street USA, the new Dooney & Bourke Leather Ears are in stock for $198.00! I personally think the bow shape looks great, I don’t understand color coordination at all, so the tan with the white and faded-looking colors on the balloons are weird to me, but I know others LOVE these.
Finally, as we were going through Storybook Circus we were reminded of Smellephants on Parade sponsored by Scentsy. We are wondering when we will hear more about it, we haven’t heard anything in 3 months now.
That is all from Disney World today. We really had a great morning, and surprised at how light the crowds were during the morning. Sometimes you can never tell what the crowds will do.
