We are excited to see The Phantom Menace on the big screen again. We were too young to remember the excitement that surrounded the initial release of Star Wars ‘A New Hope’ back in 1977, according to our parents we did see it.

When Empire Strikes Back I could remember seeing the movie at the Quaker Bridge Mall in New Jersey back in 1980, still to young to care about what others thought of the movie.

Then in 1983 when Star Wars ‘Return of the Jedi” hit theaters we were full on fans! Spending hours at a time in our front porch or backyard playing with the action figures. Day dreaming about flying with Han and Chewie, using any tree branch as a lightsaber, hugging our plushie Ewok, and then going to bed, closing our Star Wars drapes, and sleeping in our Star Wars sheets.

Then the dark times came! Ewok movies were released, which we hated, and then total silence for year after year. Time passed and we went over a decade before we even heard rumblings of a possible NEW Star Wars project. By the late 90’s we knew were we would all be on May 19th, 1999, at midnight!

We got our tickets a few weeks early, this is when you use to have to go to the theater itself and pre purchase tickets. So we waited another month, but what is a month when we had waited for 16 years? Actually it sucked! We spent that month watching the trailer over and over again. In fact I can still remember the opening scene perfectly! The fog, the Gungans…the Chills!

We could care less if critics thought it was good or bad, we certainly couldn’t wrap our heads around the hatred for a certain Gungan! We were in love again. We got what we wanted again. We got the Star Wars Universe. Which we still get to this very day, and we are grateful every day to have something that reminds us of being 7 years old playing with our Kenner figures, when life was simpler for us.
