Epcot CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Construction Update – New Colorful Walls, Lights, and More Mural Work. We finally know the opening date of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, June 10th, 2024. With the opening, that will mark a major milestone in the overhaul of Epcot that started 5 years ago. Basically ending the construction process, and with the removal of the final walls, we can no longer call it WallCot.

So with the end coming soon, lets check out how how the construction is going as of March 26th, 2024. We found a lot of changes in just the last 2 days. Plus we make one small speculation. Maybe you can help us figure out if we will be right or wrong.

The new Mural that will grace the inside of the new CommuniCore Plaza side of things is complete. While we cannot see the whole piece, we have seen a major part of it. Disney posted a few months ago how the mural will look, and we have some of those images to a-b.

As of now we can see the Nova Corp ship, Dreamfinders ship, some of the fish to represent The Seas, and more. We know Mickey and Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and a few other characters will also be part of the mural.

The Mural is able to be seen from the outside right now, and it may turn out that it will remain visible. With how the tringle paneling looks, they may fill in the empty spots with glass. The mural is located on the inner wall.

Over at the Mickey & Friends CommuniCore Hall side of things, the triangle outside has the opposite of the Plaza side when it comes to the look. Instead of color located on the inside of the panels, forming a rainbow, the colors are on the outside walls.

Overnight these colorful panels were added and the walls themselves now reflect the same look as Spaceship Earth.

On the outside, closer to the World Showcase side, new lighting poles that match the rest of World celebration are now installed. It looks to be the walkway has been complete headed from Journey into Imagination around to World Celebration.

When CommuniCore Hall opens in World Celebration later this year, it will be the center of festival programming throughout the park. In new renderings released today, you can see this will be home to a new character greeting location called Mickey & Friends. You’ll be able to meet Mickey Mouse and some of his best pals in this colorful space.

CommuniCore Hall will also be the home of a dynamic exhibition space that will transform with each festival throughout the year, as you can see here in one possibility imagined for EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Playing with light, shapes and reflections, the architecture of this building was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering to celebrate the legacy of EPCOT and the original CommuniCore buildings.

Onto our speculation, that is if you made it this far… If you head around CommuniCore Hall, the walkway between Moana and CommuniCore, they are adding in circular patterns with lights. These look like the circle and lights that encompass the center garden. There is a large circle closest to the monorail side, then 2 smaller circles, one on Moana side, and one closest to the CommuniCore side. The question is, giant hidden mickey?
