New Jersey Rockers Bon Jovi Docuseries ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story’ Premiers April 26th on Disney+. I did not know whether to call them Hair Metal, Rock ‘n Roll band, 80’s or 90’s superstars, or Pop Rock. They kind of fit all those molds, and yet none of those molds.

Bon Jovi was HUGE when I was just starting to find music on my own. I started listening to Run DMC, Anthrax, Motley Crue, and The Doors all at the same time. But Bon Jovi was different especially if you grew up in the New Jersey/PA area of the world. Even more so, if you grew up in my household.

I have not seen the new docuseries yet, but I do hope they touch on this, because it is personal to my family in a weird way. Growing up in Trenton, NJ during the late 70’s early to mid 80’s with a Studio and Audio company in your house was weird. We knew all the local musicians, and most of the audio engineers and bands came in and out of my house on a daily basis.

One of those bands was called The Next which features future Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. He played along with Bruce Foster, Steve Mosley, Dean Fasano, and Jody Giambelluca. All of them family friends. In fact Jody would be seen in the Rocky movie as one of the singers around the trash can fire, and also 12 Monkeys. All of these guys are now Trenton Musical legends.

He would join Bon Jovi and become the most idolized guitar player for many years on MTV and playing Stadiums around the world.

The series joins the band in February 2022 and follows their real time journey with its fits and starts as they attempt to chart out their future. As thrilling as the story of a once-in-a-lifetime talent is, it is even more rare that a legend like Jon Bon Jovi lets the world into his most vulnerable moments, while he’s still living them.

40 years of personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics, and never before seen photos that chronicle the journey from Jersey Shore Clubs to the biggest stages on the planet. The series relives the triumphs and setbacks, greatest hits, biggest disappointments, and most public moments of friction.

“Thank you, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” is directed and executive produced by multiple Emmy® Award winner Gotham Chopra (“Kobe Bryant’s Muse,” “Man in the Arena,” “Tom vs. Time”). The film is also executive produced by Giselle Parets and Ameeth Sankaran for ROS, and it is produced and edited by Alex Trudeau Viriato, who played a critical, creative role in shaping the series.
