Funatics Review – “Saltburn” Is a Movie To Make You Uncomfortable. Having heard about this movie from the nominations that it received for the Golden Globes, I decided to check this out. I wasn’t sure what to expect so I did my due diligence. I checked out the trailers and checked in with my favorite movie reviewer.

This movie is available as part of your Amazon Prime subscription for free. So I tucked in and got started. Here is the synopsis of “Saltburn.” Academy Award-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) brings us a beautifully wicked tale of privilege and desire.

Going into this with little knowledge, I knew that I liked Emerald Fennell’s work. Richard E. Grant, he’s iconic. I have seen a lot of movies that he has starred in. Carey Mulligan is another favorite. Rosamund Pike is fantastic. Now, Barry Keoghan, I wasn’t that familiar with. Having seen him in Marvel’s Eternals as my only frame of reference. He is one to watch. His performance is chilling and weird.

This is a good movie. That being said. It’s uncomfortable. Some scenes made me glad that I was watching this alone and not in a group setting or with my family. I went into thinking it was going to be about one thing and it shifted and went another. I’m glad I didn’t know what I was getting out of the descriptions.

Carey Mulligan is not in this very long but she is unforgettable. Rosamund Pike’s Elspeth was haunting. I didn’t know much about Jacob Elordi but he’s another one to watch.

If you aren’t uncomfortable watching this, then Emerald Fennell didn’t do a good job. I think she did but you be the judge. Let us know if you saw this or wanted to see this or just want to discuss it. Furthermore, I think I would give this a 3.75 out of 5 stars.
