Hey Peach! Guess Who’s Back? Ginny & Georgia Started Filming Season 3. Breaking on the socials yesterday was the fact that Netflix hit ‘Ginny & Georgia’ has begun work on Season 3.
The show has become a massive hit on Netflix and stars Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey as the titular mom-and-daughter team. When the show debuted in 2021, people suggested it to me saying it’s a new, modern ‘Gilmore Girls’. Uh nope, it’s really not but boy did I fall for it. This show is fresh, fun, and addictive.
Ginny & Georgia is an American romantic drama-comedy series created by Sarah Lampert. The series starts with Ginny, a 15-year-old who is more mature than her 30-year-old mother, Georgia in a New England town, where Georgia decides to settle down with her daughter and son, Ginny and Austin.
We follow the family as they start life in Wellsbury, a town in New England. Georgia has a very checkered past. She’s killed and stolen money. She starts to work for the mayor. Ends up marrying him. When last we saw Georgia in Season 2, she was being arrested. Ginny deals with a lot of issues. She self-harms. She’s very close to her father, Zion. Ginny quickly befriends her Maxine “Max” (Sara Waisglass), Abby (Katie Douglas), and Norah (Chelsea Clark). The quartet starts going by the unfortunate acronym MANG (taken from the first letters of each of their names) — until breaking apart at the end of the first season when Max finds out that Ginny slept with her twin brother, Marcus (Felix Mallard), and kept it from her.
Austin, her 9-year-old half-brother struggles, too. Sweet Austin suffers bullying largely due to his deep attachment to Harry Potter, demonstrated by the fact that he constantly wears round, lens-less glasses to mirror his fictional hero. Austin also sincerely believes that his incarcerated biological father, Gil, is in fact in the wizard prison of Azkaban — a lie that Georgia perpetuates by keeping all of Austin’s letters to Gil and forging replies herself. Austin eventually discovers his unsent letters in his mom’s closet and feels betrayed.
According to Netflix Tudum, With Seasons 3 and 4 on the horizon, creator Sarah Lampert previously told Tudum that she has the story “all planned out.” The shocking Season 2 finale — which saw Georgia arrested at her own wedding after she suffocated a comatose Tom with a pillow to spare his family from further suffering — will directly set the stage for the show’s third season.
“When we had to develop the storyline for Season 2, we knew exactly what we wanted Season 3 to be,” Lampert told Tudum before the launch of the second season. “Georgia needed to kill someone and she needed to kill someone in Wellsbury, Massachusetts.” And she did. But, “it’s not over until it’s over,” Howey tells Tudum. “We can’t wrap it up in a pretty bow. That’s not real life. That’s certainly not Georgia’s life. It never has been. Why would it start to be her life now?”
Lampert also added that Season 3 will throw “new hurdles, new relationships, and new challenges” at Ginny and Georgia “in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.”
