The Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dog Construction Update from Disney’s Boardwalk. There have been a lot of changes going on at Disney’s Boardwalk. Big River closed over a week ago, and Disney brought in Food Trucks to compensate for the lack of food options. Furthermore, construction is going on at the docks, The Cake Bake Shop, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Even Pluto showed up on the Boardwalk recently.
The Cake Bake Shop:
The entrance is taking shape, and the windows are about to be installed. There is work going on nonstop, and each time we get over to the Boardwalk we see major changes.
Housed in what was formerly the ESPN Zone, The Cake Bake Shop boasts enormous windows that promise captivating views while you dine. At the pinnacle of the structure, an octagon has been preserved, but it’s no longer just plain walls; it now welcomes in natural light with beautiful windows all around. The installation of metal roofing is underway, and the interior, once the bar area, has been completely transformed, is ready to showcase an array of cake-filled display cases.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dog:
Nothing has us more excited in the culinary world of Walt Disney World than Blue Ribbon Corn Dog! This is not an exaggeration either. The thought of these amazing creations of Hot dogs dipped in corn batter, and various other versions of a dipped dog, or corn, or whatever else they want to dip and fry!
I mean, come on, Pickle Corn Dog! That should have been the whole sentence! “How is construction going at Boardwalk?” ‘Pickle COrn DOg’! Anyway, I digress…
Last July 6th, Blue Ribbon posted to Instagram “Guess what!!! That wait is over Florida, we’re finally expanding to Disney’s Boardwalk later this year🤩!! Get excited because we are!!” Obviously, construction has delayed the end of the 2023 opening, but progress is moving fast at the new location.
The building interior is almost complete, and the new paint job has been almost finished. The pastel blue and yellow colors have been added and a new exterior has been installed.

Above is the first Pickled Corn Dog we ever tried while we visited Disneyland in 2022. It was one of those inspired moments because we sat back here in Florida mocking this creation. So when we traveled to the D23 Expo, we knew we had to make a special trip to find this monster. Talk about being wrong, we ended up loving this and had wished for the past 18 months for it to come to the east coast.
Now we are closer than ever to the opening of Blue Ribbon Corn Dog here at the Boardwalk.
We ran into Pluto and he promised us he would have a Corn Dog when it opened. It was very surreal seeing Pluto walking around.
