I’m jumping in. The episode starts with Kat runs on the beach towards Thomas. She tells him he’s going to be killed by the British. No, he says, it’s Cyrus that will do it. He traded his life for Jacob’s. Thomas apologizes for shooting her in woods. He says he was aiming for Cyrus, who was there. Kat says this is all her fault. If he had shot Cyrus then Jacob and Susanna would be free. They hear Cyrus and his men approaching.

Thomas tells her to go and not look back. He tells her that he will carry a part of her in his heart. Then he hands her two silver coins to remember him by. They kiss and yes this is the kiss many were waiting for. It delivered. He tells her to run and not look back. She runs and hears the gunshot. Back at the Herald, Kat is having flashbacks of all her time with Thomas. She sees the gun she took from Lingermore and packs it away in a box.

Alice has a weird interaction with Noah at the cafe and is then met by Casey Goodwin. They’re back. Alice asks Casey to take care of the Landry land that Casey’s dad just bought. Casey says they have to go and takes off. Alice, later, meets up with Elliot and this is where it gets interesting!

Alice explains to Elliot that her existence causes this rift and she wants to know why. Elliot tells her that she doesn’t have long to wait. We then see Alice in 2008 at Elliot’s house. She asks where Del is. Del is away in North Carolina visiting family and that Kat hasn’t been back since Lingermore a year earlier. Elliot explains that he’s packing to leave town himself.

Kat shows up and Alice hides during this interaction. Kat tells Elliot that being a mom is hard and that Brady makes being a parent look so easy but she’s struggling to find her identity and feels like a failure as a parent. She shows Elliot a picture of baby Alice. Elliot tells her that he knows that she is an amazing parent and that she will not only be a good mom to Alice but one day her best friend. Kat really needed to hear that.

She gives Elliot an envelope with Alice’s picture, a plane ticket, and a letter for her mom. She asks him to give it to Del. Elliot says he’s leaving but just then Elliot’s dad, Victor, came in. Kat ask him to give it to Del. He says yes then she leaves. He tosses it on a table and grumbles about the Landrys always wanting a favor from the Augustines. Victor tells Elliot that he will be back, the town is in his blood. Alice whispers goodbye.

Meanwhile, in the present day, Elliot and Kat are sitting on the couch and she tells him all about what transpired with Thomas in 1814. Kat shows him the coins that Thomas gave her. Elliot is immediately fascinated by the coins from the 1800s and takes a picture of them. Kat goes home and has an interaction with Del and the regrets that she is going to have selling the land

At Elliot’s, Alice comes in and thanks him for what he told Kat in 2008 about being a good mom. She wants to know what happened to the letter that was given to Victor. Elliot doesn’t know since he left. Alice sees his notebook and asks about it. Elliot explains the “Fynn Theory.” The Fynn Theory is that Fynn the dog time traveled. Jacob fell in the pond going after the dog who was going after adult Kat.

So the theory is that anyone can time travel with a Landry to the past but not to the future. It didn’t work when teen Elliot tried to go after Alice in 1999 and it didn’t work when Kat tried to take Susanna away from 1814. Alice says let’s test the theory. She takes Elliot to the pond and they jump in and end up in 1999.

In 1999, Alice and Elliot come up to the Landry house. They see Colton’s truck and Jacob’s bike. Alice tells Elliot to go talk to him. Elliot goes and has the most beautiful interaction with Colton. I will not do this justice but Elliot helps Colton run the electricity that Colton is running to the loft for Elliot. Colton explains that Elliot is going to be alone since his daughter Kat is leaving for camp and that Elliot doesn’t have a great home life. Colton does all this just for Elliot. Not a dry eye during this scene.

Meanwhile, Kat is in the cemetery and stops at Elijah and Rebecca’s headstone. Next to them is Susanna’s headstone. She wipes it off to see the dates and sees the sun in the corner. The same sun that is in the portrait of “My Katherine.” Susanna is the artist. Finally an answer! Kat rushes to the portrait and studies it for clues. She holds a mirror up to the painting after remembering that Susanna can write backwards. The symbol on the book in the portrait is really backwards EL RL.

The EL and RL for Elijah and Rebecca Landry is carved into stones on the fireplace in their home. Kat goes to the stone and chisels it loose. Inside is a book wrapped in Susanna’s dress. It’s the original book of the founding of Port Haven with Susanna listed as the author. Susanna left this note inside, “To My Katherine, Elijah said we needed a beginning: a fairytale to believe in. Here’s Port Haven’s. Tell our story in your time, as I couldn’t tell it in mine. Yours Forever, Susanna.” Inside the book is the page Jacob tore out. Kat knows what has to be done.

Back in 1999, Alice and Elliot spy and see the kickoff party at the Landry’s. Young Elliot thanks Colton for the electricity. He tells him a guy in town came and helped him so he’d always have a space at the Landry’s. They make a noise and run before they are caught. It appears someone else is watching, too.

In present day at Elliot’s, Elliot is jazzed. He thanks Alice for the trip. He sees the table that Victor threw the letter on. Elliot pulls the drawer out and looks through the contents then grabs a flashlight and looks inside the table. There stuck inside for all these years was the letter Kat gave them to deliver. Alice tells Elliot that this is why the pond kept sending her back. She can make things right between Kat and Del, finally.

Alice says you know it worked with the letter and the plane ticket. Kat apologizes for Alice seeing her at her worst. Alice asks for a photo of Casey.

At dinner, Sam sits in Colton’s chair and Del tells him it’s ok. Now, I will say in all this that I have relayed, I have neglected Del’s story in this episode. Honestly, I forgot til just now. But she does have a touching moment with Sam and a beautiful moment with Colton’s ghost. Back to dinner, they are all happy to keep the land. But Del doesn’t know how she will afford to farm the land.

Elliot tells her that might not be an issue. Now, y’all, this is classic cute Elliot time! Oh how he loves to say the word numismatist. He tells them that he heard from a numismatist that the coins Kat found from the 1800s are extremely valuable and worth a small fortune. At the mention of the coins, Sam was very intrigued. See more questions…why is Sam so intrigued by the coins???

Kat and Jacob walk to the Landry house. She asks him if he’s sure about this. What about Elijah and Susanna? He tells her that they encouraged him to go home. He says that Elijah always knew he needed to go back home. Even Thomas told him to go. Kat says that’s impossible because Thomas is dead. No, he’s not. He had armor on and lived. Jacob looks at the house and sees a vision of himself as a little boy coming out. He holds Kat’s hand and she says she wishes Dad was there to see this.

Back in 99 we see who was watching Elliot and Alice watch the Landry family…it’s Colton. We see the old woman and little boy from the beginning of the series. She says she knows that the pond calls to him and that it will take him where he needs to be but not yet. She says you need to be patient, Colton.

OMG are you kidding me? So many questions. If you got this far, I’m sorry that I broke down the entire thing. I’m a tv series girlie. I love a good series. Furthermore, I happen to like serial television more that movies. This is one of the best shows that has come out in a long time. I love a show that makes me think. And this show makes everyone think and yes, ponder! Sorry, I had to. Can’t wait to jump into season 3 in 2025.
